Adam was born and raised on the coast of Northern California, where he learned to appreciate outdoor pursuits in the mountains and the ocean.
He discovers rockclimbing at a young age and wins his first competition. Then, he enjoys telemark skiing. He spends three seasons on the World Cup circuit (3rd in 1999 and 2nd in 2000) at the prestigious "Couloir Extreme" race in Whistler, Canada. This race is known as the "longest, steepest GS race in the world". He ends up 1st in the Kokanee Valley Race Series in Whistler in 1999.
His competitive nature enables his to win freeskiing contests as well, including a 2nd place finish in the Mt. Baker Hemispheres competition in 2000 and numerous appearances in the finals of USTSA events from 2000-2003.
In the winter, he focuses on adventure skiing. In 2005, he embarked on ski expeditions throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and South America.
The precision of his style and his work ethics have made him a staple of numerous photographers and film crews.
In the summertime, he is a respected marine biologist studying whales and seabirds from California to Alaska and beyond. His research has been documented in books, magazine articles, and documentary films by organizations such as National Geographic and The Discovery Channel.
