I was born and raised in Durango, Colorado. My father was teaching avalanche school in Silverton when I was born, which may explain my lifelong obsession with snow. I grew up ski touring and rock climbing. I started alpine and telemark skiing at about 15 years old. In the last 10 years I have lived all over Colorado, snowcat guiding in the San Juans, and skiing at areas and in the backcountry. 3 years ago I moved to Washington State, for the big snowfalls and safer backcountry. I patrolled at Stevens Pass to live and get to know the area, and then moved to Switzerland, where I was a nanny near Davos for 6 months. I returned Washington and chose Mt. Baker to spend my winters (and summers). I injured myself this winter and just got surgery on my ankle to repair ligaments and my fibula, so I only got to ski
1 month...
I have pretty much always lived in remote, out of the way places, where there are a lot of unskied lines and a few of us who want to ski them.
This has not been good for limelight, but good for tracks in unknown places all over Colorado. This coming winter I plan on skiing mostly at Mt. Baker and Whistler, and the related backcountry with a month in Europe somewhere in there.
I don't have a lot of traditional achievements to boast about. I have been truly living my dreams, because of the choices I have made, which are an achievement in itself.
I would like to keep filming and doing photos, they are a good way to see new places. I am really just starting out in that world, which has opened up a new dimension worth exploring.
